Mereena Khandkar is a renowned figure in the culinary industry of Bangladesh. She was born and raised in Bangladesh, and completed her M.A. in 1978 from the University of Dhaka.
Ms. Khandkar began her career with the National Tourism Organization, where she served for 29 years and rose to the position of Manager and Head of Department, F&BP, NHTTI.
Mereena Khandkar a woman who is the best Chef Teacher in this country. She has been devoted herself for the last 33 years long career to producing a quality, educated generation. Currently, many Chef Students are working in the global market and represent Bangladesh with the help of her guidance. Her contributions to the field of hospitality and tourism were significant, and she was widely respected as a leader in the industry.
In addition to her work with the National Tourism Organization, Ms. Khandkar was also a guest faculty member at several universities and training centers in Bangladesh. She served as a guest faculty member at the Faculty of Management, Tourism and Hotel IBAIS University, Dhaka and a guest faculty member at the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management, University of Dhaka. She also served as a Food & Beverage Course Conductor of ‘Youth Training Center’, Department Youth Development, GOB as a guest resource person, and since 2018 has been a guest faculty member teaching Theory & Practices of Culinary Arts at Daffodil Institute of IT (DIIT).
She has also served as a trainer and assessor for the Bangladesh Technical Education Board’s cooking trade, as well as an assessor for the SEIP-Tourism & Hospitality ISC project.
Currently, Ms. Khandkar serves as the Principal of ICI International Culinary Institute and Director Tourism & Hospitality Industry Skills Council. Her contributions to the culinary industry in Bangladesh have been significant, and she is widely regarded as an asset to the industry.
